Are You a Remote Worker Looking for Inspiring Stays in Europe? Meet flOasis.

Tuscan Countryside Villa.jpeg

Move over, Airbnb. There’s a new booking platform in town and it has all the makings for next-level stays, especially for remote workers! Meet flOasis. In this post, I share all about this exciting new company, and also detail my own experience testing out a flOasis property in the Tuscan countryside. (I basically lived in an Italian postcard for four nights. Just you wait!) Ps. stick around til the end for an exclusive discount code that you can use towards your own unique stay!

A little background:

I’ve been a fully remote worker since 2016, and believe me when I say I know the struggle that is finding accommodation with reliable Wi-Fi, a comfortable working space, and a sense of community. Historically, accommodation options for the digital nomads of the world have included:

  • Airbnbs

  • Hostels

  • Co-living/Co-working Houses

There are, in my opinion, two things that are very important to remote workers (which no single option seems to ever fulfill!) Those features are: flexibility and a like-minded community. With Airbnb, you get flexibility. Book it for two days. Book it for two months. But you’re lacking community because you’re most likely living on your own, with the host, or sharing the house with strangers. With hostels, you also get flexibility, but the community is always a toss up. In my experience, you’re more likely to find backpackers wanting to party than anything else. With co-living/co-working groups you’re guaranteed to have an amazing community, but there is typically a time commitment of at least a month.

These options always left something to be desired, and flOasis has filled this gap in the market. The platform just recently launched, and what they’re offering is unique and authentic stays that are not only flexible, but guarantee good Wi-Fi and have been fully vetted by remote workers. Additionally, the platform supports independent owners “that have poured their heart and soul into their homes” and gives you the option to book accommodation that is listed as “shared” (ie: co-livings and retreats) if you’re looking for that community feel.

My Experience in Tuscany

When flOasis founder Lola Casamitjana reached out and asked if I’d want to test out a potential stay, I was all in. When that stay was confirmed to be an adorable cottage out in the Tuscan countryside, I couldn’t get to the airport fast enough.

I’m probably a bit biased, but this creative Italian farmhouse has to be one of the best stays on the platform. Let me tell you why.

It’s an entire gated compound with a built-in community.

Set out in the Tuscan countryside and just 20 minutes outside of Florence, this stay is essentially its own gated community set on a ginormous piece of land. You’ll find the lovely family that owns it living there, as well as full-time residents and vacationers alike. I had a wonderful time on my own and meeting the others on the property, but imagining a group of nomads there…oh, it’d be dreamy. Because…

The amenities are top-notch.

There’s a long, rustic table and wood fired oven for gatherings and dinners. A full-size tennis court, ping pong table, and I’m sure you can imagine spending many sunny afternoons next to this beautiful inground pool. There’s even a print studio for workshops and beautiful gardens and orchards to wander around. In short, it’s a peaceful and wonderful place where you can really focus on your work and connect with others.

The accommodation is charming and comfortable.

I fell in love with my little cottage, and it had everything I needed. There are several cottages on the property, each with their own unique features. This is the “Ceramic Cottage”, named for the beautiful handmade ceramic tiles you see behind the bed. These were collected from the south of Italy and date back to the 18th century! There’s also a bathroom with shower and double sink, as well as a fully-equipped kitchen and a wooden desk. I had my own private Wi-Fi hotspot and loved working from the sun bed outside. I also loved this small table nook that looked out onto one of the gardens!

The scenery is breath-taking.

As I mentioned before, this stay felt like living in a postcard. I think this photo says it all!
