The Best Joshua Tree Airbnbs For a Group Getaway

Dakota House

Dakota House

So you’re ready for a dreamy desert escape. Maybe you want to spend a few days exploring Joshua Tree National Park and Pioneertown. Maybe you simply want to disconnect and spend your nights soaking in a hot tub underneath an endless sky of stars. Either way, you need somewhere to stay and I am here to help. After spending several weeks in the Joshua Tree area, I compiled this list of incredible Airbnbs. Most suitable for getaways with a group, these multi-bedroom properties have everything you could ever need for a memorable stay in the desert.

Starship Landing Aurora

Retro Airbnb Near Joshua Tree.jpg

Starship Landing Aurora is the kind of place that makes you believe in the supernatural. The desert location…the circle of hammocks…there’s even UFOs and aliens in the yard! Basically, this place is a trip. You half expect Austin Powers 𝒂𝒏𝒅 ET to pop out from around a corner.

The 3 bed/2 bath property sleeps 10 and features shag rugs, bean bag chairs, disco balls, a record player and all kinds of fun retro details. In the basement you’ll find a pool table, a Mortal Kombat arcade, and a projector for the perfect movie night (just to name a few!). On cool nights, head outside for a soak in the hot tub, and when it gets extra toasty during the day, go for a dip in the Cowboy tub. Don’t miss the steel Starship Gate, perfect for a unique photo opp.

Hosting a retreat/bachelor or bachelorette party? There’s even more space next door at the equally eclectic and impressive sister property, Starship Landing Luna.

Cielito Lindo

Cielito Lindo is a gem of a desert getaway with gorgeous outdoor entertaining areas, bright and airy interior decor, a fire pit, an epic hot tub, and an outdoor shower built into boulders.

Set on over 2 acres of land, the 4 bed/2 bath property sleeps 10 and is walking distance from downtown Joshua Tree. Perfect for a weekend away with friends or a digital detox, it’s a fantastic place to get away from it all. The hot tub set into a wraparound infinity deck was by far my favorite place to chill out, especially at night, when you could literally spend hours gazing at the stars.

The Moondance Joshua Tree

Only a half mile from Joshua Tree National Park, this beautiful home sits on 2.5 acres of land and is my favorite in terms of the interior decor. The 1960s ranch has been transformed into a modern, bohemian oasis complete with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The 3 bed/2 bath property sleeps 10, so there’s plenty of space for everyone to lay their head, and plenty of chairs around the camp fire, too! Enjoy the silence and desert views from the hot tub, and when you need to cool off, there’s a gorgeous new Cowboy tub for that.

Dakota House

California Style Living Room.jpg

Probably the most remote property on this list, Dakota House is a 5-acre stunner set amongst piles of boulders. With no neighbors in sight, you’ll enjoy desert solitude with every modern amenity and convenience. The road to get there isn’t the easiest, so this is a good choice if you’re looking for seclusion and don’t plan to come and go too often! It has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, but sleeps 6. As with all the properties you see here, it has a hot tub, but this one is next level. Get out there for a sunrise, you won’t regret it!

Juniper Terrace

Juniper Terrace Joshua Tree Airbnb.jpg

The most affordable option on this list, Juniper Terrace sleeps 9 between its main house and casita. This two unit concept is especially helpful for large groups and those that prefer a bit more privacy. Combined, they have 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, 2 fully equipped kitchens, and the property features all of the things you’d expect out of a Joshua Tree area home: hot tub, cowboy tub, fire pit, BBQ, games, and comfortable, stylish interiors!

Quails’ Garden

This quirky and rugged property sleeps 7 and is quite affordable. Built in the 1940s, the stone cottage is full of charm and set in a cactus garden. You can rent the main house (2 bed/1bath) that sleeps 5, and if needed, the casita (studio) that sleeps 2 can also be booked. Hang out by the fire pit, enjoy a drink in the hot tub, take a refreshing dip in the Cowboy tub, or play a round of my favorite backyard game, cornhole.
